If there’s anyone who knows the ins and outs of planning a wedding in Cabo, it’s Amanda Antonetti—professional planner and real Cabo bride. Amanda not only planned her own celebration at the Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, but she also helps couples craft unforgettable destination weddings across Mexico and the world with Amanda Antonetti Events. With her unique perspective, Amanda offers practical, honest advice for couples beginning their venue search in one of the most sought-after wedding destinations.

Key Factors to Consider When Choosing a Venue
Before falling in love with a picture-perfect ocean backdrop, Amanda recommends that couples start by evaluating three essential aspects: guest experience, venue inclusions, and logistics.
“If many guests are traveling from far away, an all-inclusive resort can simplify things by offering accommodations, dining, and entertainment in one place, minimizing coordination efforts,” she says.
However, if a private villa or off-site venue is calling your name, Amanda urges couples to weigh the convenience factor.
“They should consider how guests will get there—will shuttles be needed? Are there enough nearby accommodations?”
Logistics like weather conditions, vendor restrictions, and venue setup requirements can also heavily impact your day—and your budget.
Matching the Venue to Your Vision
From luxury resorts to secluded villas to sandy beaches, Cabo has a venue for every type of couple—but how do you find the one that fits?
“The best venue type depends on the couple’s priorities, guest count, and wedding vision,” Amanda explains. “If they want a seamless experience where everything is handled in one place, an all-inclusive resort may be ideal. For couples dreaming of a private, intimate setting, a villa offers exclusivity…”
Of course, with that exclusivity can come extra expenses for catering, rentals, and transportation. Amanda also points out that some beachfront venues may “require permits and have noise restrictions.” So if convenience, privacy, or a unique setting is at the top of your wish list, let that guide your search.
Timing Is Everything
If you’re planning your Cabo wedding with blue skies and cool breezes in mind, Amanda recommends booking between November and April.
“It’s also whale season (December–March), which can make for a magical experience,” she shares.
Just keep in mind that this is also peak tourism season, so hotel rates and crowds will be higher. Amanda suggests May to June for great weather and fewer crowds, while July to October is low season due to heat and potential hurricanes.
“If considering a summer or early fall wedding, a backup indoor option is recommended.”
Don’t Let Hidden Costs Catch You Off Guard
Amanda emphasizes the importance of digging into the fine print before signing on the dotted line. Cabo venues often come with additional charges that may not be obvious at first glance.
“Many venues charge additional fees for things like outside vendors, event extensions past a certain hour, and extra power needs for lighting or entertainment,” she notes.
Other common hidden costs to look out for:
- Vendor fees for bringing in outside pros
- Setup/cleanup charges for beach ceremonies
- Furniture and décor rentals if the venue doesn’t include basics
- Transportation for guests
- Event insurance or permits
- High service charges and taxes (often 16% tax + 15% service)
“Couples should carefully review their contract and ask about any potential fees before signing,” Amanda advises.
Permits, Policies, and Local Regulations
Booking a Cabo wedding means navigating local rules, especially if you’re planning a beachfront ceremony or hosting in a private villa.
“Beaches in Cabo are public,” Amanda notes, “so they may need a special permit from the local municipality.” Some venues will handle this, but not all.
Noise regulations are another consideration, particularly in residential areas where amplified music might need to end by 10 or 11 PM. And don’t forget to ask about vendor exclusivity and whether you’ll need a liquor license.
“Working with a wedding planner or venue coordinator can help ensure all necessary permits and regulations are handled properly.”

Amanda’s Best Advice for Couples Feeling Overwhelmed
With so many beautiful venues in Cabo, it’s easy to feel like you’re swimming in options. Amanda’s advice? Start with what matters most to you.
“Narrowing down your must-haves—whether it’s an ocean view, an all-inclusive experience, or total privacy—can make the process easier.”
Budget transparency is key, so ask for full pricing details upfront. If you can’t visit venues in person, request virtual tours and unfiltered photos from real weddings.
“Another tip is to consider guest logistics—think about how easy it will be for them to get to and from the venue, what accommodations are nearby, and how the overall experience will flow.”
And don’t be afraid to ask for references or connect with past couples who’ve gotten married there.
“Sometimes, real experiences can provide the best insight into what to expect.”
